On the way to Arenal, we’ll visit the famous town of Sarchí, known as the birthplace of Costa Rica’s artisans. Here, you'll find a variety of local crafts and souvenirs, as well as the world’s largest ox cart—recognized by the Guinness Book of Records. This impressive cart stands two stories high, measures 14 meters (45 feet) long, and weighs two tons. It’s made entirely of cedar wood and hand-painted with vibrant traditional designs and took 70 days to complete. As we continue the journey, enjoy the scenic drive through agricultural landscapes including pineapple fields, mango orchards, ornamental plant nurseries, and cattle farms, until we reach the charming town of La Fortuna.
There, you’ll enjoy lunch at a cozy restaurant with stunning views of the volcano. The Arenal Volcano, once thought dormant, dramatically erupted in 1968 and is now a must-see destination.
